MAINE FILM NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES
Casting Call for Short Film "DUAL""DUAL" is a high intensity sci-fi short being shot by a former NIKE director and a writer repped at WME. MFA Member Sam Brosnan and his co-writer and producer Jason Carreiro seek cast members for the film, shooting later this summer. They are casting three speaking roles to play a family caught up in the deepening mystery surrounding a celestial event:
- Paul: Husband and father. Very physically demanding role that involves barefoot running through the woods and lots of facial emoting. 2-3 days of shooting.
- Katie: Wife and mother. 1-2 days of shooting.
- Sophie: 5-7 year old daughter. 1-2 days of shooting.
"DUAL" is a self-financed passion project. The director and producers have ambitions for the festival circuit, and the film will be a great portfolio piece for all involved. They are able to offer a modest daily fee for the actors for their generous participation. For more information, contact Sam at sam.brosnan@gmail.com.
In Production in Maine: "1918"
Frederick Greenhalgh, of Alfred-based Final Rune Productions, has written a short film called “1918.” Greenhalgh, Jeremy Kasten of Berwick, and Christine Marshall, artistic director of Mad Horse Theater, are producing the horror flick, and filmed a scene this summer at the City Theater in Biddeford.
The crew will also film scenes at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, the Alfred Parish Church, and Kasten’s farmhouse in Berwick. We're excited to see the film as part of the Damnationaland film festival in October! More info about the film here.
