Support the MFA this Year-End!

2020 has brought challenges that we could not have fathomed at this time last year. Collectively, professionally, and personally, we have all shifted our way of life and our expectations of what we can accomplish each day, each month, in the coming year. Thanks to our members’ support, we’ve been able to transition this year to still serve the Maine film community. We would love to have you on our roster of MFA Members, and to have your support! Learn more about what we’ve been able to accomplish in 2020 here, and join as an MFA member today to support our work in 2021 and beyond!

Dec. 10: 3rd Maine Student Film Crew Workshop

The Maine Film Center and Mid-Maine Technical Center are at it again, providing another Maine Student Film Crew workshop on December 10. This time award-winning filmmakers Isabelle and Phoebe Rogers will instruct a virtual “Stop Motion Animation” educational session for students in 7th-12th grades. Learn more and sign up to participate at mainestudentfilm.org.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: 2021 Deadlines!

Did you know that the MFA monthly e-news has a section dedicated to deadlines for grants and festivals that may interest you? If you haven’t scrolled that far in the past, take the time now to mark your calendar with some deadlines in early 2021:

Have a foundation or festival you’ve submitted to in the past that you think would be of interest to Maine filmmakers? Send us a lead at info@mainefilm.org, and we’ll share it!

Virtual Screenings: Curated Collections

Maine movie houses continue to present virtual screenings of awesome documentaries, indie films, and fan favorites to keep our media needs met while we’re at home isolating. Be sure to check out the selections curated by local establishments, and get renting today to support these great arts organizations:

ANTIDOTE, A Collaborative Film Project

As we’re hunkering down inside again, the days are short, and the weather is crummy, lift your spirits by watching ANTIDOTE! A collection of short films made by Maine filmmakers, ANTIDOTE was crafted to reflect their take on the pandemic, how they’ve passed the time in isolation, and the joys, sorrows, and revelations that this time has afforded. Watch it here.

“I’m Glad You’re Here!” Episode 1

Early on in the pandemic, Maine filmmakers and actors Wes Sterrs, Tadin Brown, E.C. Gregg, Jeffrey Griecci, and Mariah Bergeron seized the moment to create a piece that would provide a bit of levity in an otherwise heavy global situation. They’ve released Episode 1 of “I’m Glad You’re Here!” for your at-home-streaming enjoyment. Watch it on YouTube today!
