JULY 10: MFA Happy Hour and Rooftop Screening: ISLAND ZERO
Maine Film Association has partnered with Bayside Bowl for the July 10 edition of its summertime Rooftop Film Series to bring you ISLAND ZERO, the 2018 horror film by Josh Gerritsen and Mariah Klapatch! Following the screening, we’ll have a Q&A with the filmmakers.

JULY 27: Maine Movies on the Prom: STAND BY ME
The Maine Film Association (MFA) and Friends of the Eastern Prom have teamed up to bring a summer series of outdoor film screenings the last Saturday of each month to one of Maine’s most palatial locales: Portland’s Eastern Promenade. Next up, a classic Maine tale: STAND BY ME. Bring your friends, a picnic, and a blanket and join us!

22nd Annual Maine International Film Festival Begins July 12
MIFF kicks off on Friday, July 12, in Waterville, bringing a 100-film program, celebrity guests, forums, and more to Maine. Opening night begins at 6:30 pm, and features the Maine-made film BLOW THE MAN DOWN before screening an array of international films and celebrating the festival with an Opening Night Party. July 6: CIFF Summer Preview Party in Rockland
This year, Points North Institute will celebrate 15 editions of the Camden International Film Festival (CIFF), and on July 6, they’re providing a taste of what’s to come this September with the CIFF Summer Preview Party at the Bicknell Building in Rockland. July 10: ISLAND ZERO in Portland
Each summer, Bayside Bowl in Portland provides film buffs with many an opportunity to catch great flicks outside with its Rooftop Film Series. The MFA is proud to partner with Bayside to bring MFA Members Josh Gerritsen and Mariah Klapatch’s 2018 Maine-made horror film ISLAND ZERO to its screen. Maine author Tess Gerritsen wrote the screenplay for this nail-biter: Inhabitants of a fishing island find themselves cut off from the outside world after the ferry suddenly stops coming. When dead bodies turn up along the water’s edge, the survivors must find out who, or what, is killing them. Free to all; more information here.
July 12 – 21: Maine International Film Festival in Waterville
July in Maine means the Maine International Film Festival. The Maine Film Center and its collaborators have prepared another incredible program for the 22nd annual festival that brings films from across the globe to Waterville for 10 days straight. July 19 – 24: TONI MORRISON: THE PIECES I AM in Portland
Portland Museum of Art presents five screenings of this 2019 film that “offers an artful and intimate meditation on the life and works of the acclaimed novelist.” More information and tickets here.
