The Rebel Filmmaking Workshop with Matt Siegel introduces and explores the latest tools and techniques for creating high-quality projects on low budgets, using minimal crew and adhering to tight schedules. An emphasis is placed on the importance of visual storytelling and then how to get big, bold, and beautiful results from powerful new cameras like the Blackmagicdesign Pocket 4K. Thank you to Blackmagic Design for their generous sponsorship of this workshop!

Through a series of demonstrations and hands-on exercises in visual storytelling, framing, composition, blocking, camera movement, and the creation of shot sequences, the workshop explores a contemporary and independent style of filmmaking. Furthermore, participants will have firsthand experience designing and composing shots, and then working together as a small crew.

We invite all MFA members to this workshop, and especially encourage those filmmakers in pre-production on narrative, documentary, or branded content projects who wants to “up their game” by trying new approaches and techniques in an effort to create stronger stories with more dynamic and engaging shots and shot sequences.
