Maine Film & Video Industry
Economic Impact Survey

The Maine Film Association is conducting a study intended to assess the impact of the state’s film and video production industry on Maine’s economy. We hope to use the information gathered from this study to advocate on behalf of and promote legislation and policies for the Maine film and video industry.

A key component of the study is gathering data from those working in the Maine film and video industry through a survey. We encourage everyone who runs a film/video production services business or operates as a freelance or independent filmmaker to complete this survey.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will require you to report financial and employment information from fiscal year 2019 (prior to the disruption of “business as usual due to the pandemic). It is best to begin the survey when you have your FY2019 financial information in front of you for easy reference.

To provide the appropriate questions to you, please select from the following options:

Please note:

  • This survey will require you to report financial and employment information from fiscal year 2019 (prior to the disruption of “business as usual due to the pandemic). It is best to begin the survey when you have your FY2019 financial information in front of you for easy reference.
  • All survey responses are confidential. We understand that we are asking you for sensitive information about your business and finances. The surveyors will never reveal which responses belong to which business or individual.
  • At the conclusion of the survey, you will be invited to enter into a drawing to win one of two $100 Visa gift cards by submitting your name, company, and contact information. In providing this information, you will also help the survey team to track which production companies and professionals have responded to the survey – i.e., we won’t continue to ask you to take the survey! Note: Your personal information will be stored completely separate from your economic impact survey responses.

Thank you in advance for participating in this study and helping the MFA be better advocates for the Maine film and video industry!
